The College of Fine Arts at The University of Texas at Austin seeks nominations or applications to the post of Associate Dean of Graduate Education and Academic Affairs. Faculty rank, tenure, and salary commensurate with experience. Earliest start date: January 2022. The position requires relocation to Austin, TX.

This faculty administrative position serves as a primary operational advisor to the dean, oversees graduate programs and serves as primary liaison with the Graduate School, and oversees accreditation and assessment of all academic programs within the College. As Associate Dean, the candidate will also contribute to the development and support of new academic programs (degree and non-degree), cultivate collaborative ventures with other units across the university, sustain and manage current interdisciplinary programs, and support the dean and the College in administrative, ceremonial, and other general operational functions as needed. On behalf of the dean, the Associate Dean oversees significant portions of the college's operations, which may include but is not limited to supervising undergraduate programs and student life cycle, graduate scholarships, web strategy, instructional continuity and innovation, and other staffing areas. The successful candidate will be appointed as faculty in one of the College's academic units (Art and Art History; Music; Theatre and Dance; Design and Creative Technologies) and is expected to teach and conduct research or creative activity in that unit.

The College of Fine Arts has a diverse student body of about 1,700 undergraduate, 200 masters and 200 doctoral students and offers BA, BM, BFA, BS, MA, MM, MFA, DMA, and PHD degrees in a variety of practice-based and scholarly disciplines, as well as an Artist's Diploma and K-12 teaching certification. Most, but not all, are in-residence degrees following the standard tuition-funded model of a large, land-grant, public research university. This faculty administrator will advocate for the arts, our award-winning faculty, and our constituent programs within one of the largest, tier one, public research universities in the country. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a terminal degree in their field and extensive administrative experience in a peer-level institution, especially in graduate arts education. They will demonstrate evidence of experience advancing arts education platforms committed to diversity and inclusion; generating a rigorous culture of innovation in research, creative activity, and pedagogy; teaching successfully, especially at the graduate level; and researching or practicing creative activity in a creative discipline at a level of national recognition sufficient for appointment with tenure. The College seeks candidates whose prior academic activity has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and support students from diverse backgrounds.
