The Department of Teacher Education in the Dewar College of Education and Human Services seeks applicants for a non-tenure track faculty position beginning January 2, 2022.  The lecturer position is renewable with a pathway for possible promotion to senior lecturer.  The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the candidate’s area of expertise and providing service to the department and college.

The Department of Teacher Education is comprised of 30 faculty with 26 initial teacher, advanced teacher, and service degree programs. RESPONSIBLITIES:

Teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in a variety of modalities to include on campus and online (synchronous and asynchronous); supervising field experience and clinical practice; fostering relationships with teachers and administrators across the state; supporting schools within the region; providing service to the department and college. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education Specialist degree;
  • Minimum of five years teaching experience in K-12 setting;
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning;
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful college-level teaching in elementary or middle grades courses;
  • Leadership experience in K-12 setting;
  • Experience teaching online courses;
  • Expertise in the use of technology for teaching and learning;
  • Knowledge of data-informed and research-based practices;
  • Interest and willingness to contribute to fostering and maintaining partnerships with public schools and districts;
  • A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant’s career stage;
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting;
  • A record of mentoring students of diverse backgrounds in experiential learning such as undergraduate research.

The Dewar College of Education and Human Services prepares professionals for multiple roles in 21st century educational, business, and community settings. The College is home to five departments (Leadership, Technology, and Workforce Development, Teacher Education, Human Services, Communication Sciences and Disorders, and Library and Information Studies).
