Job Description

The Maine Business School (AACSB Accredited) at the University of Maine seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Accounting, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2025. This will be a full-time, ongoing appointment, renewed annually based on satisfactory performance.

New faculty must establish a research program leading to publications in refereed journals in their area of expertise. The successful candidate will be expected to be an effective and engaging teacher, to make a strong commitment to the development of innovative curricula, to advise and mentor undergraduates in pursuit of their academic and professional goals, and to collaborate with colleagues to increase student success. Our primary teaching needs are in Managerial Accounting and Accounting Information Systems. The position will offer a competitive salary and research support.

The typical teaching load is two courses per semester at the undergraduate level for the first two years, after which you will teach a load of three courses one semester and two courses
one semester. The candidate will be expected to participate in the maintenance of AACSB accreditation and remain academically qualified. The Maine Business School invites faculty to participate as full and equal partners in curriculum development, projects, and committees related to the educational mission, and school governance. The MBS supports the professional goals and development of faculty. The candidate will be expected to participate in service to the school, university, and community. The candidate should also foster collaborative relationships with the business community.

Qualifications:
Required: 

  • Ph.D. from an AACSB-accredited program (or equivalent) or be ABD with an anticipated graduation date of no later than December 31, 2025.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in quality research within the relevant academic discipline.
  • Evidence of the ability to teach relevant classes.

Preferred:

  • Evidence of potential to publish research in quality academic journals.
  • Documented evidence of quality teaching in Accounting.
  • Relevant professional certification(s).
  • 3 or more years of relevant professional experience in Accounting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
