Oxford College of Emory University invites applications from
excellent teacher-scholars to fill the tenure-track position of
Assistant Professor of African Studies in the Division of the
Humanities, to begin August 2022. We seek a specialist in
Francophone sub-Saharan Africa, whose teaching responsibilities
will be three courses per semester, including a first-year seminar
in alternate years, survey and topical courses contributing to
Oxford’s general education program and the interdisciplinary
African Studies major, and an occasional course supporting the
French program. The successful candidate will have the opportunity
to collaborate with colleagues across other disciplines whose
teaching and research focuses on the African continent.
PhD in hand by the time of appointment, experience in
undergraduate teaching, and a promising scholarly research agenda.
Preference may be given to candidates able to teach in the French
language and culture sequence.
