Job Description

Position Summary

Plans, coordinates, and monitors the execution of research activities of high complexity. Acts as primary contact for administrative and logistical activities required to support research. May support the conduct of advanced research through data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates the day-today initiation and operation of research and data collection activities.
  • Acts as the primary administrative point of contact for internal research staff and as an operational liaison for other research organizations, funding agencies, and regulating bodies.
  • Plans, implements, and maintains data collection and analysis systems; may coordinate and support the collection and analysis of data.
  • Establishes and coordinates logistical arrangements for research subjects and outreach activities, as appropriate to the study.
  • Assists with providing administrative and fiscal support to investigators and research staff; assists with establishing budgets and financial reporting procedures, and monitors and controls expenditures.
  • Assists in the development and writing of grant proposals and/or business plans for specific research projects.
  • Monitors the progress of research activities; develops and maintains records of research activities, and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports, primarily for internal audiences.
  • Coordinates the day-to-day activities of technical support staff specifically engaged in the carrying out of research/clinical protocol, as appropriate to the position; may perform aspects of research protocol, as required, in accordance with specified program objectives.
  • Supports the conduct of research through data collection, analysis, and interpretation using advanced methods.
  • May direct the work of, mentor, and/or evaluate paid students or other research support resources.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in area of assignment.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education, experience, and/or training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant biological science or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience working with fungal pathogens, specifically C. immitis and C. posadasii.
  • Relevant experience including the ability to use molecular genetic tools to design, ana-lyze, and conduct CRISPR/cas9 genetic manipulation research.
  • Skills in verbal and written communication (assessed via first author publications and presentations in CV).
  • Experience working with murine models of infectious disease.
  • Previous experience with viral research at BSL2 and/or BSL3.
  • Experience conducting animal model of infection in an ABSL3.
