Alabama State University, Academic Affairs, Department of Foundations and Psychology, invites applications to fill the position of Assistant/Associate/ Full Professor of Psychology.  This is a tenure track position specializing in social or clinical psychology.  The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and teaching engaging undergraduate courses, both online and traditional setting that align with departmental and institutional learning objectives.  This includes delivering lectures, facilitating discussions, and creating experiential learning opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and advise students on academic progression, career pathways, and preparation for graduate school, fostering professional growth and critical thinking
  • Actively engage in research, ideally involving students in scholarly projects to enrich their educational experience
  • Provide service to the department and the institution
  • Participate in committees, curriculum development and community outreach programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned



Minimum Qualifications:

An earned Ph.D. in Social or Clinical Psychology, evident of effective teaching at the undergraduate level, a record of scholarly activity, and possess a strong commitment to teaching, research, and mentoring undergraduates.  

It is to be noted that for the purpose of continuous improvement of faculty qualifications as faculty members complete advanced degrees, certifications, licenses, etc., the faculty member will send official documentation, within 45 days of hire, to the Office of Human Resources, and the credentialing file in Academic Affairs.
