Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate student applications to Master's programs and
determine eligibility for admission for each applicant. This
requires cognizance of international academic standards and
variations between academic grading and standards among schools in
the US and internationally. Give initial rankings of applicants
based on TOEFL and GRE scores, school, GPA, and other factors. Make
recommendations to accept or reject applicants and identify the
subset of applications that will require faculty decision-making.
Communicate with applicants, respond to questions, maintain a FAQ
sheet, etc. Coordinate with the school to develop and implement
systems for application review.
- Manage day-to-day aspects of the current Master's program
students by advising on course selection, tracking academic
progress, and keeping inventory of practicum projects across
campus. Since these programs allow/require electives from around
the university, the advising responsibilities for these programs
are significantly more challenging than for many of our other
programs. Assist the faculty directors with the programs content by
maintaining an inventory of courses relevant to CIS across the
university, and what course substitutions are allowed.
- Manage visibility for the programs by creating content for and
maintaining web pages, helping drive Masters Students activities on
campus, and posting to social media outlets (e.g. Slack or
LinkedIn). Create and manage webpages for the programs including
FAQs, program information etc. Assist faculty director in
scheduling and archiving information sessions, Webinars, etc. as
well as setting up curriculum committee meetings and other program
development activities.
- Maintain statistics on programs; track applications, admits,
accepts and enrollment for each program. Establish a LinkedIn
presence for programs, recruit students to it, and track jobs upon
graduation. Develop and grow ties to companies with projects and
employment opportunities in the CIS fields our students are going
to.
