Position Details
Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job
Full-time, tenure-track (9 month) position will teach 9 credit hours each Fall and Spring in the School of Teaching and Learning. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching a range of core curriculum courses in undergraduate or graduate education; embrace the opportunity to make a positive impact on the community through high-quality, integrated teaching, scholarship, and service. Contribute to the program as a collaborative member of the department; engage and collaborate in research and program development; continue the program’s history of having a positive impact on a state, regional, national, and international level. Act as content expert and liaison in the area of Curriculum and Instruction; and provide dedicated support for working with various student populations.
Educational Requirements for the Position
Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or related field. ( ABD candidates may apply but must have their degree completed by the contract start date in Spring 2025).
Experience Required for the Position
At least 3 years of successful teaching experience in public elementary, intermediate, middle, or high school. Must hold or be eligible for state public school teaching certification. Experience working with teachers and/or pre-service teachers. The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. Experience with school-university partnerships focused on teacher preparation and teacher development. Demonstrated excellence in teaching. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of and a willingness to communicate current trends in the field to students and other constituencies. Associate professor credentials require an established scholarly agenda.
Other Requirements for the Position
Preferred Qualifications include: Familiarity with teacher education accreditation standards. Have a history of supervising field experiences and experience teaching a variety of content areas, such as science, social studies, math, or English Language Arts. Evidence of service to departmental, college, and university committees is essential, along with participation in professional organizations at both local and national or international levels. Demonstrate purposeful university outreach and the ability to foster productive relationships with local community members and organizations. A record of scholarly productivity and evidence of an emerging research agenda are required. Additionally, the candidate should have a demonstrated record of or potential for teaching excellence at the university level, including online and/or hybrid courses.
Possess a strong working knowledge of academic research methodologies and the ability to build productive professional relationships with public schools, colleges, and local communities. Finally, experience teaching graduate-level coursework is essential.
