Description
St. Olaf College Job Description
Position Title: Ice Arena Operator
Department: Athletics
Reports To: Ice Arena & Events Manager
Classification: Non-Exempt
FTE: 0.07 - 0.15
Essential Job Duties:
1. Operate Ice Resurfacer Equipment
- Resurface the ice at scheduled times
- Provide users with appropriate equipment
- Perform basic maintenance on the ice resurfacer
2. Equipment Management
- Check the operation of the ice plant
- Ensure proper lighting is used for each event
- Check ice temperatures
3. Facility Management
- Maintain the cleanliness of the facility
- Assist with event set-up
- Additional responsibilities as needed
4. Supervisory Responsibilities
- Assist in training new employees
- Lead student workers when manager is not present
5. Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community
6. Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle
7. Perform other duties as assigned
Work Schedule:
Term: Year-round
Shift:
0.15 FTE - Hours will vary between 4-10 hours per week, 6 hours per week is average, more hours worked during winter season sports, less hours worked during summer; flexible schedule which includes weekday, evenings and weekends; travel up to 1% of the work schedule, which includes local (Northfield and Twin Cities metro area) travel
0.07 FTE - Hours will vary between 2-5 hours per week, 3 hours per week is average, more hours worked during winter season sports, less hours worked during summer; flexible schedule which includes weekday, evenings and weekends; travel up to 1% of the work schedule, which includes local (Northfield and Twin Cities metro area) travel
Required Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; maintain a valid driver's license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization criteria with a satisfactory driving record
Experience: Experience operating a Zamboni ice resurfacing machine along with knowledge of Zamboni maintenance
