Job Description:
Testing Center Coordinator positions support various academic and vendor testing services in the Testing, Evaluation, and Measurement Center (TEMC). The TEMC is comprised of four offices: Testing Lab Services; the Academic Testing for Students with Disabilities (ATSD) office; Scanning Services; and the Testing Center Round Rock (TCRR). At the discretion of the director, Testing Center Coordinators are assigned to a specific office within the TEMC, but they may be asked to temporarily support other TEMC offices and departmental functions. Their primary role is to support TEMC supervisors in overseeing the daily operations of a TEMC office, which includes providing lead coverage for a TEMC office in the absence of the supervisor. Examples of duties include but are not limited to scheduling and proctoring exams, monitoring inboxes and responding to emails, working with stakeholders, supervising student workers as needed, providing occasional coverage at outreach-related events (such as tabling fairs), and supporting office supervisors with various management functions.
Note: The TEMC Coordinator position is primarily assigned to either the Texas State University Round Rock or San Marcos campus. However, based on departmental needs, there may be occasions when the coordinator is needed to support the other campus for a limited timeframe. Examples may include coverage support for one day or temporary reassignment to the other campus for two days per week in a busy summer month. Such instances may or may not occur in any given year. Any temporary reassignments that are needed will always be discussed beforehand.
Job Duties:
- Support TEMC supervisors in overseeing daily operations of TEMC offices and provide lead coverage in the absence of the supervisor.
- Coordinate the administration and proctoring of paper-based and computer-based exams. Ensure testing accommodations for examinees. Proctor exams as needed.
- Monitor Testing Center email inboxes, phone calls, and scheduling systems to coordinate the scheduling of exams.
- Train, monitor, and support student workers, Graduate Assistants, and other staff as needed.
- Directly support students with their testing needs. Examples include meeting with newly registered Disability Services students with testing accommodations (if supporting ATSD or the TCRR), and troubleshooting minor software/computer problems.
- Serve as a liaison between testing companies, Texas State departments, and TEMC as needed.
- Prepare and maintain various logs, surveys, and reports.
- Correspond with community members and faculty from Texas State University and other universities, parents, and students.
- Assist in determining implementation methods and policy development.
- On behalf of the TEMC, provide occasional coverage at outreach-related events such as Bobcat Days and New Student Orientation, etc.
- Some evening and weekend work required.
- Other duties as assigned.
