Multi-Use Facility Conversion & Operations Specialist

Posting Context Statement:
Within Administrative Operations the Multi-Use Facility Conversion & Operations Specialist reports directly to the Superintendent of Conversions & Operations - Multi-Use Facilities to assist in Event’s on campus.
Position Overview:
This position is responsible for the general non-trade related maintenance/operational functions and facility conversions for multi-use facilities (Kibbie Dome, ICCU Arena, ISUB, etc.).

Duties may include:
  • Major facility conversions
  • Independently performing non-trade related maintenance routines and equipment repair associated with building operations
  • Troubleshooting mechanical problems with equipment and completing necessary repairs
  • Creating a work environment that emphasizes customer service, teamwork, safety and the protection/preservation of multi-use facility assets
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience:
Work experience which includes the following:
  • Carpentry, plumbing, electrical and general building maintenance and repair
  • Using and maintaining tools and equipment normally associated with carpentry, mechanics, plumbing and electrical work
  • Reading blueprints and schematics
  • Operating and maintaining various work-related vehicles and equipment (i.e. trucks, forklifts, scissor-lifts, tractors, etc.)
  • Using computer software and applications for word processing, email and internet research

Required Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Other:
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license and meet the universities driving requirements
  • Ability to work a nonstandard schedule which may include weekends, nights and holidays

Additional Preferred:
  • Two years or more verifiable experience related to building maintenance and operations in an institutional setting
  • Knowledge of general building safety codes relating to fire doors, electrical safety, egress routes, emergency lights, fume exhaust systems, etc.

Ability to:
  • Complete several projects simultaneously
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Use good public relations skills
  • Keep and maintain records pertaining to job functions and assigned areas

Knowledge of:
  • HVAC and mechanical systems maintenance
  • Building codes

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Ability to:
  • Lift and carry or otherwise move items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Bend, stoop, and shovel
  • Work on ladders, lifts, scaffolding etc. and at significant heights
