Job Description

Assistant Community Director is a live-in staff member responsible for assisting in the success of the Housing and Residential Education program. This position is part-time, with a 20-hour per week work schedule, with some evening and weekend commitments. Ideal for anyone earning a graduate degree.

The Assistant Community Director will play a critical role in creating a supportive and engaging environment within our communities. The Assistant Community Director will assist with Wentworth’s Thematic Communities, supervising the Community Advisors overseeing these floors. The Assistant Community Director will collaborate with various campus partners to help achieve program goals of providing an enriching experience to explore well-being, foster social responsibility, and promote personal development while preparing students for continued success inside and outside of the classroom at Wentworth.

The Assistant Community Director will also assist with Housing Operations initiatives. This includes preparing for residential hall opening and closing, room assignments, billing, and assisting students with concerns.

Leadership development, community development, collaboration with campus partners, supervision, training & development, marketing, student conduct, student support, and housing operations are among the many opportunities the Assistant Community Director will experience in the role.

The Assistant Community Director will also participate in the Administrator on call 24-hour emergency response duty rotation.

This is a 12-month, part-time (20 hour per week), live-in position. An on-campus apartment is provided as part of this position.

This is a one-year contractual position, with opportunity for renewal.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree

  • Less than 12 months of work experience

Minimum Knowledge Required:
  • Working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply them in varied situations. Uses instructions and guidelines to perform the job safety function. Periodic training will be required.

Preferred Knowledge:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply them in varied situations. Uses instructions and guidelines to perform the job safety function. Periodic training will be required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated time management and/or project management skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Enrollment in a Student Affairs or Higher Education, or related, Master’s Program
