Job Description

Nature of Work:
  • Provides professional engineering services to meet client requests/needs and to manage the day-to-day activities of other project team members.
  • Performs a variety of assignments and analyses that impact the Engineering Construction & Design function
  • Analyzes, reviews and designs construction plans, specifications, and equipment as needed
  • Solves routine to complex problems and provides solutions, recommendations, etc.
  • Analyzes potential solutions using experience, judgments and precedence, providing input and recommendations
  • Impacts the quality of own work and the work of others on the team, ensuring efficient workflows, productivity, etc.
  • Explains complex information to others, ensuring audience understanding
  • Provides project management on various multi-disciplinary projects ensuring compliance with contract documents and industry standards
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists Project Managers in establishing the scope schedule and budget for site development, structural restoration and infrastructure improvement projects executed by contracted consultants.
  • Assist in the development of detailed project scopes for site planning, structural restoration and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Assist in the engagement of contracted consultants (architects, civil engineers, and design professionals) to drive accurate planning and execution.
  • Assist in the oversight of architectural and engineering development for studies, design, and construction projects and facilities, ensuring compliance with University Rules, Regulations, State Statutes, and related requirements.
  • Assists in the coordination and communication with campus and community partners and stakeholders.
  • Assist in maintaining project cost and schedule information while monitoring progress and status as the project design develops. Provide active direction to consultants and stakeholders to align deviations.
  • Assists Project Managers in planning project delivery and phasing opportunities.
  • Coordinate existing conditions surveys by engineers needed during the design phase, including coordination of escorts, access, and scheduling any maintenance or other facilities staff as part of those visits.
  • Reviews plans and specifications prepared by consultants.
  • Initiate and facilitate bidding processes.
  • Obtaining and tracking building permits.
  • Track project progress and log, file and archive information and documentation with project management software.
  • Assist in construction phase activities as needed to support the construction manager, or construction supervisor colleagues.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
Shift

7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Licensure may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate shall have experience in civil or structural design.

Must possess a valid driver’s license, which will allow legal operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Missouri.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 annually

Grade: GGS-011
