Job Description

A full-time research scientist is sought for the lab of Dr. Jenny Munson at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech Carilion. The Munson lab is an interdisciplinary research group of engineers and biologists that study the impact of fluid flow in various pathologic conditions including brain and breast cancer and Alzheimer’s Disease. We use a range of tools and techniques to model biological processes. We work with collaborators all over the world and clinicians to have direct impact on patient treatment. In addition to our research, we are actively engaged with the surrounding community through outreach programs. We seek a qualified individual to work across multiple projects in the lab to develop new methodological tools for computational and imaging analysis, mentor and train lab members, edit and write manuscripts and grants, and generally contribute to the scientific progress and direction of the lab. This individual will also be expected to work closely with collaborators at FBRI and other institutions and maintain a high level of research progress and presentation in all interactions. The work of this scientist will bridge multiple grants and projects which contain computational elements. This position will require in-person laboratory time, but also has flexibility for some remote work and hours. Any inquiries regarding this position should be directed to Jennifer Munson (munsonj@vt.edu)
