Postdoctoral Research Associate, Biology

About the Opportunity

Job Summary

The Apfeld Lab at Northeastern University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to investigate how genes work together to determine the maximum lifespan of the nematode C. elegans. Our lab integrates genetics, live imaging, quantitative analysis, and computational approaches to uncover the molecular mechanisms regulating aging and longevity.

Key Responsibilities

The postdoctoral fellow will contribute to ongoing research projects exploring genetic interactions that influence lifespan, assist in experimental design, data analysis, and publication of findings. Additional responsibilities include maintaining laboratory operations and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to design and conduct independent research.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and training in research methodology and quantitative data analysis.

  • Prior supervisory experience is a plus.

  • Recent or upcoming Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant field

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Recent or upcoming Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Neurobiology/Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related disciplines.

  • Experience: Expertise in molecular biology, genome editing, fluorescence microscopy and imaging analysis, and C. elegans genetics
