Position Summary
The University at Buffalo’s Division of Student Life, Department of Marketing, Communications and External Engagement seeks to hire a part-time Graphic Designer to join their team in Buffalo, NY. We are looking for a team-oriented, results-driven, artistic professional capable of creating innovative design solutions in a fast-paced environment.

In this position, you will:
  • Work under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Experiential Design to support exceptional programs and initiatives that help enhance the UB experience for students.
  • Consult with and guide Student Life units to help them achieve their communications goals.
  • Act as a creative problem-solver to develop original visuals in print, digital, and environmental mediums.
  • Use your creativity to devise design solutions that resonate with target audiences while upholding the University at Buffalo brand and its associated standards.
  • Manage production of art assets and oversee project implementation with campus and external partners for optimal results.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree with 2 years of experience
or
  • Bachelor’s degree with 0 year of experience
or
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis

  • Knowledge of typography, typesetting, current design standards and trends, as well as printing and production techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on a team and with external partners.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-4 years of demonstrated marketing or advertising design experience in print, web, and/or environmental mediums.
  • Efficient, outcome-driven; ability to be nimble, accept feedback and iterate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with project management software.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies.
