Job Summary
Reporting to the Lead Groundskeeper, the Groundskeeper is responsible for the upkeep and appearance of outdoor areas by performing groundskeeping tasks.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements*
- Performs tasks to maintain the grounds and landscapes
- Follows written or verbal directions or specifications, including planned landscape designs
- Removes and transports trash and debris from public areas to the designated central collection location on a daily basis, and performs inspection of grounds regularly
- Removes snow, ice, or debris from walkways, driveways, and parking lots, and spreads salt in those areas to prevent slip, trip, and fall accidents
- Performs proper upkeep and maintenance of irrigation system, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, water features, or other grounds features
- Performs furniture, fixture, and equipment ( FFE ) transfers
- Assists with both indoor and outdoor event set up and tear down
- Wears appropriate safety items and protective clothing
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )
- Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Works under the general supervision of the Lead Groundskeeper
*Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

Required Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma ( GED )
- At least six (6) months’ working experience of groundskeeping
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and proof of insurance
- At least one (1) year’s working experience performing the essential performance requirements at a community college
- At least one (1) year’s working experience operating fork-lifts and tractors
- Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships
- Ability to safely handle and operate grounds vehicle, equipment, and groundskeeping tools
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representatives of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
