Position Overview:

This is an admission application processing position. Daily responsibilities include: Advising prospective students and interested parties about the University's programs and educational opportunities. Determine the admissibility of students through the assessment of standards established by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. Assessment will be made in accordance with a prospective student’s educational background including both performance and curricular standards including: High School graduating class ranking, overall grade point average, grade point average in core curriculum courses, and test scores. Assist with in-state residency committee, academic appeals committee, and concurrent enrollment programming. May assist in the development of orientation materials, handouts, and/or updates for students or prospective students.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Processes applications for admission and determines admission decision for applicants on a daily basis. Counsels students regarding the admissions process, reviews admission applications, conducts initial transcript evaluations, and provides initial academic advisement to incoming students. Determines admissibility all undergraduate admission student types in accordance with professional association guidelines, state mandates and institutional policies. Maintains familiarity with all UCO, high school, and community college educational programs. Communicates with internal and external constituents to ensure successful student transition. Discusses options with inadmissible students for future enrollment at UCO. Responds to student correspondence in accordance with supervisor requirements. Assists with recruitment activities as needed. Active member of the Residency Committee, Appeals Committee, and Concurrent Enrollment Program Committee. This position must be well versed with The Oklahoma State Regents policies concerning admission and in-state tuition. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required:

Requires a bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant experience. Excellent customer service experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Relate to diverse applicant/student population. Work well under pressure and give attention to detail. Strong leadership, communication, decision-making and organizational skills. Microsoft Suite (word, excel, access, etc.)
