Department : Electrical Engineering Salary :
Commensurate with Experience/Education
Description :
Manages the day-to-day operations of a large university program or department, including the supervision of staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.
1. Plans and develops procedures for administering a large or complex department or program.
2. Manages fiscal activities, including procurement and budget analysis.
3. Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
4. Prepares abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
5. Creates and reviews reports of expenditures and activities.
6. May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations.
7. Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
8. May serve as property custodian for the department.
9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.

Additional duties that the department would like to be considered for this position include: provides guidance, administer trainings, and evaluate performance of front office staff; assist chair, faculty and staff with event planning; coordinate programs for the department and centers, (e.g. locating venues, finding caterers and setting up for events); works with chair and financial team on developing budget for events, especially fundraisers; coordinate with student advisory committee and relevant staff on campus outreach programs; serve as liaison for the chair, faculty and staff with other university departments and offices; make travel arrangements for chair and guests, screens all incoming telephone calls, sorts and prioritizes mail; draft routine responses to correspondence as needed; manage the process for the development and completion of dossiers for chair to review for university rank, tenure and promotion for approval; drafting offer, reappointment, and summer agreement letters for faculty; essential duty of assisting the department chair with creating, developing and entering the master course schedule for classes offered by the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department each academic year and summer sessions;
Preferences:
• Familiarity working in higher education and particularly directly with faculty.
• Master’s level degree and above preferred.
• Experience in immigration processes for international hires.
• Experience in Campus Solutions and Ad Astra
