Purpose:
The Paul Dickinson School of Business at Oklahoma Baptist University invites applications for the position of Professor of Business Technology. This role offers a unique opportunity for a highly skilled individual with a strong background in cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and leadership to bridge the gap between business, technology, and information systems. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to inspire and educate the next generation of business leaders through innovative teaching, mentorship, and research in areas involving technology integration, strategic leadership, and cybersecurity.
Essential Functions:
• Develop and deliver high-quality undergraduate and graduate-level courses in business technology, cybersecurity, risk management, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies.
• Teach and mentor students in business leadership, technology adoption, and risk management strategies in a business context.
• Create and continuously enhance curriculum content to align with evolving industry trends, particularly in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and supply chain technology.
• Provide academic advising and career guidance to students, fostering both professional and personal growth.
• Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with faculty to develop innovative programs and research initiatives that bridge business, technology, and leadership.
• Actively participate in departmental, university, and community-wide initiatives to advance the mission and vision of the institution.
• Conduct research and contribute to thought leadership in areas such as cybersecurity risk management, emerging technologies, IT governance, and business-technology integration.
• Serve on advisory boards, committees, and councils that promote the advancement of business technology and cybersecurity education.
Required Qualifications:
• A doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Business Administration, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated teaching experience in higher education, with a focus on business technology, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, or emerging technologies.
• Extensive professional experience in cybersecurity, including third-party risk management, incident response, technical project management, and governance practices.
• Experience leading enterprise technology programs, portfolios, or cybersecurity initiatives involving cross-functional teams.
• Expertise in the application of emerging technologies to solve business problems.
• Strong leadership and people management skills in a technical setting, with a track record of mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
• Familiarity with project management methodologies, IT system implementations, incident response activities, and business continuity planning.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience designing and implementing courses in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and business technology.
• Demonstrated success in developing partnerships with business leaders, community organizations, and industry stakeholders.
• A strong record of scholarly contributions, including research in cybersecurity frameworks, technology adoption, or digital transformation in business settings.
• Professional certifications in cybersecurity or project management (e.g., CISSP, CISM, PMP, ITIL).
• Experience teaching or leading initiatives that integrate technology and business in diverse organizational settings.
Skills and Competencies:
• In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including third-party risk management, incident response, vendor security, and governance frameworks.
• Proficiency in emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and digital transformation tools.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical business strategies, fostering understanding among non-technical audiences.
• Expertise in bridging gaps between business, leadership, and technology, with a focus on aligning IT initiatives with organizational goals.
• Strong project management capabilities, including leading large-scale enterprise programs, managing budgets, and facilitating cross-departmental collaboration.
• Passion for teaching, mentoring, and preparing students for dynamic careers in business technology and cybersecurity.
