Job Summary:
The Office of Medical Education (OME), Office of Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) – Fort Collins Branch is seeking a part-time Critical Care Director and Clinical Content Contributor (0.1 FTE) for the Trek Curriculum of the MD Program at the Fort Collins Regional Branch Campus.
The Critical Care Director and Clinical Content Contributor for the University of Colorado School of Medicine at Colorado State University (Fort Collins Branch) collaborates with SOM personnel to implement, evaluate, and enhance elective courses within their area of expertise. This position works closely with the Advance Science Courses Alpine/Summit Director to develop and deliver high-quality course materials, scheduling, assessment, and orientation while ensuring alignment with educational objectives. Responsibilities include overseeing curriculum execution, maintaining accreditation standards, and driving continuous quality improvement through innovative instructional strategies. Additionally, the role supports faculty in grading and assessment, ensuring competency-based evaluations and timely feedback for students. The position also plays a key role in student support by identifying academic challenges early and coordinating with leadership for remediation efforts. Furthermore, the Critical Care Director and Clinical Content Contributor partners with Medical Science faculty to integrate specialty-specific content into classroom instruction, enriching the overall learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Administration:
- Collaborate with the Advance Science Courses Alpine/Summit Director to ensure high-quality course execution, including orientation, scheduling, assessment, grading, and content delivery.
- Maintain accurate, current, and accessible syllabi, course materials, and schedules that align with educational objectives.
- Ensure course opportunities meet student needs and provide timely communication with students, faculty, and administrative staff.
- Oversee curriculum development, implementation, and alignment with stated objectives, competencies, and assessment strategies.
- Ensure adherence to curriculum policies, LCME requirements, and faculty/student awareness of learning goals.
- Collaborate with faculty across campuses to modify curricula, develop new courses, and align content where appropriate.
- Monitor and assess curriculum effectiveness, identifying areas for continuous quality improvement and alignment with oversight body requirements.
- Evaluate learning outcomes in collaboration with the Office of Evaluation, Assessment, and Outcomes, providing faculty with feedback and action plans for improvement.
- Compile and report data on content, instructional methods, assessment, and outcomes to support UME program goals and ensure compliance with LCME and other reporting standards.
- Establish clear expectations and a fair grading process to support competency-based assessment and student development.
- Support faculty in providing effective formative and summative assessments while ensuring timely grade submission.
- Collaborate with the Office of Evaluation, Assessment, and Outcomes to update assessment tools and enhance student learning.
- Identify and support students in academic or personal difficulty by providing resources and referrals to the leadership team.
Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule with select days per week on campus and as needed for in-person sessions/meetings. The position on-site location will be in Fort Collins, CO.
