Job Description Summary

The Counseling and Wellness Center at Santa Fe College provides free short-term counseling to SF students, as well as crisis intervention and outreach. The Center is part of the Trauma Response Team, offering comfort and identifying helpful services, and also offers QPR training to reduce suicidal behavior and save lives. Additionally, the Center conducts Counseling and Wellness related workshops, trainings, presentations, and outreach initiatives for both students and staff.
We are seeking a Counseling Specialist to provide mental health counseling to SF students facing personal, academic, and career concerns through a culturally aware, inclusive approach and a commitment to meeting the needs of all students.
Job Description
Responsibilities and Duties Include:
- Provides face-to-face and telemental health counseling to
students facing personal, academic, and career concerns.
- Refers students to relevant and appropriate campus and
community resources based on their needs and concerns.
- Provides and supports crisis intervention services during the
standard workday.
- Maintains timely and professional communication in
recordkeeping, emails, and reports.
- Conducts outreach initiatives throughout the college community,
including workshops, trainings, and presentations.
- Prepares and presents psycho-educational trainings to students,
faculty, and staff.
- Serves as a reliable and professional Counseling and Wellness
consultant and liaison to students, faculty, and staff.
- Maintains professional and collaborative relationships with
student-facing and student support departments in Student Affairs
and Academic Affairs.
- Participates in internal and external college-related
committees and serves as a representative of SF and the Counseling
and Wellness Center to external constituents at various
events.
- Complies with all published College Rules, procedures,
guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees,
including but not limited to those related to document retention
and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
- Strictly honors the privacy, security, and confidentiality of
student records and other sensitive information according to
appropriate state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and
procedures.
- Provides service excellence through courteous, informed,
accessible, and professional engagement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: A master’s degree in counseling or a relevant field with an active State of Florida license as a Mental Health Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist. Alternatively, a registered intern within six (6) months of obtaining their license (LMHC, LCSW, LMFT) with a master’s degree in counseling or a relevant field.
Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.
Preferred: Substantive experience working with college students; working knowledge of community resources; crisis intervention experience.

following through with implementing resolutions.

team-player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative
relationships with all levels within and external to the
organization.

of interactive service to others, building relationships and
addressing identified needs.
- Results Orientation – proven ability to set and exceed
established targets.
- Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of
Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.

detail.
- Multi-task - Ability to expeditiously organize, coordinate,
manage, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously to
swiftly assess a situation, determine a logical course of action,
and apply the appropriate response.
