Job Summary

The School of Architecture and Planning’s (SA+P) Department of Construction Management invites applications for a tenured/tenurable faculty position for Fall 2025. This is a 9.5-month appointment at the Assistant or Associate professor level. Qualified candidates will have a demonstrated record of transdisciplinary research, teaching, and service. The position’s academic home will be in the School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P), Department of Construction Management. The selected candidate will primarily teach in the Construction Management department.

Job Duties

- Respond promptly to student questions and provide availability for student support.
- Utilize appropriate technology to enhance the learning experience.
- Assess learning outcomes and adapt the curriculum to meet educational objectives.
- Demonstrate insight and encouragement when working with diverse student populations, particularly those traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
- Provide academic advising to support timely degree completion for students.
- Innovate in lecture presentations and hands-on learning activities to achieve desired learning outcomes.
- Ensure accountability in fulfilling the needs of the Department and the College, including the timely submission of grades and other required materials.

All candidates should have an outstanding record of academic achievement and be prepared for the responsibilities of a tenured/tenurable faculty member in a Carnegie-designated research (R2) institution with aspirations to become a very high research doctoral granting (R1) institution. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Characteristics

The candidate will teach Construction Management courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and should have research interests in Construction Management or a related field. Advisement of undergraduate and supervision of graduate students will be required. Active participation in curriculum development, assessment, accreditation, and other departmental activities is necessary. Engagement in professional student organizations may also be expected. In addition to teaching, the position entails weekly office hours, attendance at faculty meetings, participation in the assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university.

- CMGT 201: Construction Materials & Methods
- CMGT 203: Construction Drawings & Specifications
- CMGT 242: Construction Operations
- CMGT 300: Construction Project Management
- CMGT 301: Site Planning & Surveying
- CMGT 302: Structural Systems
- CMGT 304: Advanced Cost Estimating
- CMGT 306: Construction Planning & Scheduling
- CMGT 403: Construction Financial Management
- CMGT 404: Building Information Modeling
- CMGT 420: Building Environmental Control

● Develop and maintain a well-focused research agenda that results in peer-reviewed scholarship and externally-funded grants
● Teach between 12 credits a year
● Support Morgan State’s designation as Maryland’s Preeminent Public Urban Research University and advance the goals of its strategic plan, Transformation Morgan

Required Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. and B.S. in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution. ABD (All But Dissertation) candidates will be considered but must complete their doctoral degree by August 15, 2025. Teaching experience in Construction Management at the college/university level as an instructor of record or teaching assistant, or demonstrated strong teaching potential in their teaching statement, either in-person or online. Evidence of, or clear potential for, successful scholarly and/or creative development and sustained publication.
