Job Description
The Director of E-Learning will lead CSN Online to adapt rapidly and with flexibility to changes in higher education, distance education and instructional technology by anticipating future needs and innovation. The Director of eLearning is responsible for the supervision of personnel, services, activities, and planning and assessment strategies for CSN Online; and articulating a combined vision and strategy through collaboration with CSN stakeholders to advance the College's mission through various distance education modalities in alignment with NWCCU standards.
The eLearning Director will work closely with academic departments, faculty, student services, Division of Workforce and Economic Development, external organizations, and others to support the strategic development of distance education programs. The eLearning Director will ensure the continual assessment of online courses according to CSN policy to provide students with consistent, high quality online education experience.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or
university; OR equivalent combination of education and
experience.
- 5 years of experience in online education with 3 years of
experience at the director level or above; responsible for leading
a distance education/online learning department within higher
education to include supervision of full-time employees.
- Learning Management Software experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited college or
university.
- 5 years of experience teaching online classes in higher
education.
- 5 years of director level experience within online education in
higher education.
- CANVAS experience.
The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and current
software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office
Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Experience with online Learning Management Systems.
- Experience with assessment of online instruction.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other institutional
stakeholders to achieve objectives.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to make decisions and take actions for a variety of
diverse situations.
- Demonstrate a high degree of creativity and
initiative.
- Application of appropriate Management Theories and
techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of trends in higher
education Distance Education to include Online and Blended
Learning.
- Use of technology trends in higher education.
- Ability to work with diverse groups.
- Ability to communicate effectively using a variety of
tools.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to effectively lead and supervise full-time employees
working from a variety of locations not always within physical
proximity.
