Department Summary
The Division of Outreach Office of Marketing and Communication is a national award-winning team of higher education marketing professionals dedicated to promoting the unique and innovative programs offered through Outreach departments. We value audience perspective to inform data-driven development of strategic marketing initiatives that showcase the talents of our creative team members.
The Multi-Media Specialist will work with department leadership and peers as well as program managers within Outreach and across campus to develop photo and video content for use in promoting Outreach and University initiatives. Content developed in this role will primarily support social media, digital marketing, and website efforts, thought additional opportunities for long-form or creative image development are possible.
Members of the marketing team work both collaboratively and independently, as project assignments require. We value continued professional development as well as flexible work options and personal career growth. We also value the voice of all team members, scheduling routine one-on-one meetings with leadership for all members as well as weekly staff meetings and quarterly team retreats to discuss project assignments, review team processes and professional goals, and elevate our individual and team performance.

Role Summary
Develop and direct the design and delivery of creative multimedia and visual designs such as photography, videography, audio production, multimedia editing, graphic design, motion graphics, social media, web design and content management. Oversee or produce content strategy, layout and concept design, user experience, and design architecture in digital and print formats.
Supports multimedia campaigns or projects (could include but not limited to print, video, broadcasts or photography) by creating new multimedia materials or updating existing multimedia materials for marketing and communications initiatives.
Examples of Work Performed
- Reviewing project requests and consulting with project leads to discuss contribution of possible visual elements
- Capturing video or photo content for use on social media, in digital or print materials, and online
- Planning and setting up photo/video shoots, including working with subjects and creative teams
- Retouching images and editing footage into finished elements
- Managing photo/video archives and ensuring alignment with brand guidelines
- Conducting interviews and capturing b-roll
- Maintaining photo, video, and studio equipment.
These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.
1. Develops and updates multimedia content using appropriate professional software according to specifications outlined within UM brand platform.
2. Aptly applies tone, personality and style to specific media of expertise.
3. Prepares drafts of materials based on the assigned job.
4. Prepares, edits and supplies files, graphics, and other content needed for unit or institutional multimedia materials.
5. Updates and maintains archive and graphic libraries for use by creative team.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred qualifications: Bachelor's degree, 2 years of professional photography and/or videography experience.
