Job Summary
Founded in 1867, Morgan State University is Maryland’s premier public urban research university, distinguished for its excellence in teaching, research, public service, and community engagement. The School of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences, in partnership with the RCMI Center for Urban Health Disparities Research and Innovation at Morgan State University (RCMI@Morgan), invites applications for a 9.5-month tenure-track or tenured faculty position at the associate or full professor level. This full-time appointment will commence in August 2025.
Established in 2019, RCMI@Morgan aims to build a robust biomedical research infrastructure that positions Morgan State University as a key contributor to health disparities research. Our vision is to be nationally recognized for innovative research addressing health disparities affecting minority and underrepresented communities in Baltimore and across Maryland.
We seek an accomplished biomedical scientist with a proven track record in grantsmanship and expertise in biomedical and health disparities research. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing RCMI@Morgan’s research ecosystem, mentoring early-career investigators, and contributing to the overall growth and success of the Center.
Job Duties
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent from an accredited institution.

Job Duties
- Establish an externally funded and productive biomedical research program with an emphasis on health disparities
- Coordinate the mentoring network and mentor early-stage investigators (junior faculty and post-doctoral research fellows) to facilitate their transition to biomedical research independence
- Participate in biomedical research networking and team science, professional development workshops, and other strategic activities designed to enhance the biomedical research ecosystem of RCMI@Morgan.
- Provide research training and mentor students, and post-doctoral fellows working in his/her biomedical research laboratory
- Teach graduate courses in biomedical science-related areas
- A strong record of extramural funding, peer-reviewed publications, and successful mentorship of graduate students.
- Independent research grants such as DOD, NIH, and equivalent, including currently active grant funding
- Excellent expertise in basic biomedical and/or clinical research on health disparity diseases
- Strong interest and experience in mentoring ESIs including junior faculty and postdoctoral research fellows.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent from an accredited institution.
