Job Description:

The Human Resources Assistant will assist in a broad range of generalist tasks in workforce planning/operations that will include but not be limited to researching and gathering compensation data for various positions, data entry into SUNYHR, handling personnel transactions, participating in career fairs, using the applicant tracking system to post positions and documenting and maintaining workforce planning information, data, records and files. This position will collaborate with departments and leadership to support recruitment strategies and job description development.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Classification and Compensation Support
    • Assist in collecting and researching data to analyze position descriptions for appropriate classification and compensation.
    • Help determine salary ranges based on market data and campus practices, making recommendations as needed.
    • Assist in reviewing and revising job descriptions, providing recommendations for clarity and compliance.
    • Assist in reviewing positions for compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
  • Support operational functions to include but not be limited to also-receives and extra service transactions in SUNYHR through accurate data entry as well as other operational tasks in SUNYHR that will include personnel transactions, drafting and sending correspondence, and generalist operational functions.
  • Applicant Tracking System Support
    • Help manage the university's Applicant Tracking System, providing training and troubleshooting support for users.
    • Assist in posting positions in the applicant tracking system
    • Assign permissions and maintain data needs
  • Recruitment Activities
    • Collaborate with Departments: Work closely with various departments to understand and identify their recruitment needs, enhancing the applicant talent pool.
    • Promote Open Positions: Actively participate in career fairs and other recruitment events to promote open positions, highlighting the benefits of employment at the University.
  • Compliance Assistance
    • Support workforce planning in navigating classification, compensation, and recruitment regulations.
    • Keep and maintain records for the workforce planning unit.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Data Analytics or related field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 years of experience in compensation and classification as a data analyst in higher education.
  • Experience in recruitment or HR functions, particularly in higher education.
Working Environment:
  • Typical office environment

Professional Rank and Salary Range: Personnel Assistant, M/C, $52,000
