Senior Prospect Identification Analyst
About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Prospect Identification and Research, the Senior Prospect Identification Analyst provides prospect identification support for the University Advancement division. The Senior Analyst creates concise, accurate, and timely ratings and research using biographical information, financial data, news, philanthropic history, etc. They will manage a number of senior-level portfolios and manage needed audits. The Senior Analyst will be proactive in discovery of new leads and qualification of new leadership, major, and principal gift prospects for fundraising teams.
The Senior Prospect Identification Analyst will develop analytic approaches to identify and segment donor and prospect pools, leveraging internal and external data. They will create forecasting models and perform data verification and quality control. They will manage the preparation of data for screening and review, evaluate results, and identify prospects for research.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree and 4-6 years of experience in prospect development or related experience required.
- Advanced research data collection and analysis skills (using public, proprietary, purchased or leased databases, published materials and other resources) to proactively identify, research, and assess the philanthropic giving capacity of prospective donors.
- Knowledge of rating methodologies and analysis.
- Experience with accurately and efficiently analyzing complex financial disclosure documents, real estate and other wealth indicators.
- Understanding of private and public corporate financial data, and foundation information for the purpose of determining net worth.
- Demonstrated ability in research techniques such as prospect identification, data mining, and relationship mapping.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to analyze, interpret, synthesize and present complex information effectively.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Execution of discretion in working with sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong attention to detail. Ability to make evidence-based judgments.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in higher education advancement, knowledge of principles, practices, and ethics of fundraising and knowledge of Salesforce, ascend or other CRM platforms preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Prospect Identification 70%
- Identify and qualify new prospects.
- Rate the giving capacity of individual prospects.
- Screen and research leads from screening projects, data mining, and prospect pool segmentations.
- Determine wealth indicators and liabilities and uses this data to provide appropriate financial capacity ratings.
- Analyze and synthesize accumulated information to assess financial capacity and philanthropic tendencies of potential funders. Present newly identified prospects to prospect research teams.
- Perform data verification and quality control.
- Develop analytic approaches, including predictive modeling, to identify and segment donor and prospect pools by leveraging internal and external data.
- Create forecasting models designed for setting identification goals for new prospects.
- Continuously developing fundraising knowledge and professional skills through internal/external trainings, research webinars, and local and regional conferences and workshops.
Prospect Research 15%
- Create concise, accurate, and timely research products using biographical information, financial data, news, and philanthropic history, while adhering to professional standards such as an individual's fundamental right to privacy and protecting the confidential information.
- Partner with new prospect research and prospect management teams to provide needed assistance in establishing portfolios.
- Track and disseminate news and information about top donors and prospects.
- Compose documents (profiles, biographies, project summaries) using grammar and content appropriate to specific projects.
Project Management 15%
- Utilize data to make meaningful and strategic recommendations for prospecting of major gift and principal level giving.
- Under the direction of the Director of Prospect Identification and Research, manage a select few senior level portfolios, including needed audits.
- Assist with ongoing parent wealth screening projects.
- Manage preparation of data for screening, review and evaluate screening results and identify prospects for research.
