Position requires face-to-face instruction and on-site presence at the Slippery Rock University campus. Student consultation hours (minimum of 5 hours on three different days) are expected. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching labs as assigned (potentially night labs (500 – 730 pm).

Position Summary Information

Position Summary

The candidate is expected to teach 4 sections of General Chemistry I lab and hold office hours during the fall 2025 semester. For Spring 2026, the candidate is expected to continue to teach two sections of General Chemistry I Lab as well as potentially Organic Chemistry laboratory or a science course for non-science majors.

Minimum Qualifications

BS in Chemistry with a Masters in Education or ABD or PhD in Chemistry. Commitment to the education of diverse populations. Successful performance in an interview and teaching demonstration.

Slippery Rock University is seeking a full-time temporary faculty member capable of teaching general chemistry and/or organic chemistry laboratories for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Applicants are asked to electronically submit a current CV, a well-written teaching philosophy (no more than three (3) pages), and a cover letter. Please submit your teaching philosophy using the “Teaching Philosophy” tab. The cover letter should be no longer than two (2) pages and should specifically comment on your abilities and interest in teaching undergraduates in a laboratory setting.

Graduate and undergraduate transcripts will be required. Please upload the transcripts under the “Transcript” tab. Official transcripts will be due prior to appointment.
