Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following full-time position: Financial Aid Counselor in the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships.
The Financial Aid Counselor serves as front-line advisor to University constituents concerning financial aid and will be the primary customer service representative for Financial Aid and Scholarships. The counselor will provide guidance on college costs, financial aid opportunities, the financial aid process, and financial aid eligibility.

Financial Aid Specialist (AD80/61122628), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 04. Salary range: $32,686.00 (minimum) - $46,578.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be available to work evenings or weekends as required to attend recruitment/enrollment events. Extended hours may be required during peak season at management discretion. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Advises and counsels students and families on college costs, financial aid opportunities and financial aid eligibility. Provides individualized counseling to students and families regarding financial aid options, application processes, and eligibility requirements to help them make informed financial decisions.
Participates in outreach activities such as financial aid workshops, presentations, and events to promote awareness and understanding of available financial resources.
Assists students, families, and organizations in accurately completing and submitting required forms, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), verification forms, scholarship forms, and other forms for financial aid opportunities.
Qualifications
- Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training and experience
- Preferred Qualifications : Prior experience in financial aid, admissions, student recruitment, student services and/or student life in a college or university setting preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Sensitivity to the needs of all prospective students and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and counselors is expected. A successful candidate should possess: strong organizational skills; the ability to relate well with students and family members and work in team and independent environments; excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills to include presentations; strong computer skills in MS, Excel, Word and PowerPoint; a willingness to assist current and prospective students and their families in financing a college education; the ability to read and effectively interpret policy and regulations; the ability to understand priorities and deliver projects on time; the ability to cooperate with other departments; the ability to be adaptable; continuous knowledge of Title IV, state, and institutional financial aid policies and procedures.
