Assistant Professor of Urban Teacher Education

The scholar filling this position will conduct a research and publication agenda that advances Rutgers Graduate School of Education’s pursuit of advancing excellence and equity in education; demonstrate scholarly productivity by publishing in peer-reviewed journals, securing external research support, and presenting at national and international academic conferences; contribute to the growth of both teacher education and doctoral programs; participate in program development and innovation; develop and teach courses in teacher education. We especially welcome candidates whose professional experience, community engagement, and personal background have facilitated their understanding of and ability to better serve students from historically marginalized communities in disrupting systemic educational inequities, with a preference for expertise in social studies methods to support the GSE’s evolving curriculum needs.

Specifically, we seek a dynamic scholar committed to critical, community-engaged, and collaborative approaches to advancing equity, excellence, and social justice in education through active research, teaching, and service. The ideal candidate will have experience researching issues about equity in elementary and secondary teaching, as well as experience preparing prospective and practicing teachers to teach for equity.
