Job Description

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Manager of Web Content to join the Information Technology department in Daytona Beach, Florida or in a teleworking arrangement. The Manager of Web Content is responsible for the oversight of development and production of content on all university and campus websites. Reporting to the Executive Director of Web Strategy, the Manager is responsible for meeting all publishing deadlines and supervising a content team that includes two digital publishers, student employees, and freelancers. The Manager works to ensure all web content is timely, accurate and optimized for search engines in coordination with the Technology and Analytics team. This position will collaborate with internal customers on various projects and manage content timelines and workloads. The Manager will hire content freelancers and vendors as needed.

Responsibilities include the following:

Manage content team, timelines and tasks. Use Team Dynamix ticketing system to assign and reconcile tasks and requests. Coordinate with campus and departmental web administrators to maintain web-publishing standards and ensure a high degree of usability. Ensure all web content is timely, accurate, optimized and accessible. Oversee the editing of content on all sites developed and/or maintained by Web Strategy.

Oversee the creation and structure of new and existing web pages. Refine marketing content to respond to educational and marketplace trends, user-defined needs, best practices and departmental goals and objectives. Source copy writing and editing for online publications and websites.

Stay abreast of current usability, accessibility, web and content development, Google Analytics and SEO best practices. Identify and recommend ways to integrate emerging technologies and best practices into current websites and digital communications.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in New Media, Journalism, Computer Science or related field is required and at least five years of experience with content development and web publishing.

Required skills, knowledge, abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of the internet and web publishing.
  • Excellent writing, editing and communication skills, strong computer skills and a working knowledge of web design.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and project management skills are needed.
  • Experience with Sitecore, Adobe Creative suite, Sharepoint and Google Analytics software a plus.
  • Ability to learn new things and keep up with the pace of changes in technology.
  • Highly self-motivated, self-directed and attentive to detail.
  • Ability to coach and develop team members.
  • Ability to support IT Core Values by focusing on improvement, believing in our team, learning from mistakes, being accountable for actions and showing determination, focus and tenacity.
