The Ellmer School of Nursing, located at the Higher Education Center in Virginia Beach, VA has an average enrollment of nearly 700 students including 18% African American, 9% Asian, 2% Latino and 8% males. The undergraduate nursing program has a pre-licensure track and a distance post-licensure program with a total enrollment of 350 students annually. NCLEX -RN® pass rates are consistently 90% or higher. The graduate nursing program consists of 8 MSN concentrations and 3 DNP concentrations, and certification pass rates for advanced practice graduates are on average around 90%, ranking ODU as one of the best schools in Virginia. Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications
- An earned doctoral degree in Nursing or related field
- A current, unrestricted license as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia (or eligible for unrestricted licensure).
- A current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Recent clinical practice experience with expertise as an Advanced Practice nurse.
- Demonstrated expertise in Nurse Knowledge and Clinical Practice.
- Strong communication skills.
- Functions as an effective, active, and collegial team member
- Demonstrated computer skills using web-based applications and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Competence in use of technology in teaching and distance learning.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching in a graduate nursing program.
- Didactic teaching experience.
