Summary
The Meng lab in the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neurology, invites applications for a Research Technician position. The lab will integrate brain organoid models with CRISPR-Cas9-based genetic screening, antisense oligonucleotide (ASO)-mediated mRNA modification, single-cell RNA sequencing, confocal live imaging, and biochemical assays to explore the mechanisms underlying neurological disorders and develop novel gene therapies.
Under the direction and general supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician will collaborate with other lab members to conduct research. They will receive comprehensive training in working with human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs)-derived brain organoids, which will form a key part of their work.
Job Duties
- Culture stem cells and stem cells derived neuronal cells.
- Conducts research experiments using biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and molecular genetics assays.
- Collects, compiles and analyzes data.
- Maintain careful and detailed documentation of experiments in lab notebooks
- Documents and interprets results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
- Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
- Maintain efficiency, manage lab supplies and inventory, and oversee ordering, maintenance, repair, and disposal of lab equipment and reagents.
- Oversee the purchase, setting up, and maintenance of lab equipment
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- One year of relevant experience.
- Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
- Experience in cell culture.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal
skills.
