Overview of Research Assistant

Purdue University Northwest is seeking a Research Assistant. The primary responsibility is to research in Food Safety and Mycotoxins.

This position is part-time working approximately 30 hours/weekly. Benefits do apply.

Duties and Responsibilities of Research Assitant
  • Prepare samples required for analysis
  • Maintain labs and equipment, to include cleaning, adjusting, and calibrating
  • Prepare order for supplies, equipment and instrumentation needed for labs. Receive, stock, and maintain records of inventory
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience of Research Assistant
  • One year or more in microbiology or biology lab
  • Research experience is a plus.
Education of Research Assistant
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field; Master of Science, preferred.
Core Competencies of Research Assistant
  • Fungal culture, microbiology, mycology
  • Effective verbal & written communication
  • Strong time management, multitasking, organization, planning, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills are essential
  • Ability to work independently, pay attention to details, and get work done in a timely manner is required
