The University of Montana, School of Social Work, invites applications for a non- tenure- track Clinical Assistant Professor to begin in July or August 2025.

This position is a 12-month contract with a primary role in the newly developed online Masters of Social Work (MSW) Program. We seek broadly a trained social worker with strong teaching capabilities. The School of Social Work houses an innovative MSW program grounded in an advanced integrated practice model. This approach is premised on the inseparability of individual struggles and social issues such as poverty, discrimination, oppression, and social injustice. Our programs strive to prepare students as practitioners, community leaders, and scholars able to address the complex demands of 21st-century social work. The School is committed to preparing students at both the bachelor’s and master’s levels who will uphold social work’s responsibility to challenge social injustice, appreciate and promote the strength of diversity, employ critical thinking skills, and embrace multiple forms of knowledge that promote the dignity and worth of those our profession serves.

Title: Clinical Assistant Professor
Schedule:
Full time, fiscal year (12 months) position
Salary: $65,000-$67,000

Primary Duties: Primary duties include teaching, scholarship, and service. Teaching responsibilities include master level coursework delivered online

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Master of Social Work (MSW)
  • Practice with diverse individuals, groups, and/or communities
  • Three years practice experience
  • Ability to teach MSW courses online utilizing university software
  • Commitment to quality teaching and promoting an inclusive educational environment that affirms the value of diversity
  • Possess a thorough ability to communicate with a wide variety of people in a precise and professional manner, both orally, electronically, and through written word
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or DSW in Social Work
  • Practice with Indigenous communities
  • Knowledge of the “integrated practice” model
  • Experience teaching at the college level
  • Active licensure as a clinical social worker;
  • Possesses exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
