Teach at least one (1) post-secondary level course on a subject related to the professional practice of psychology and/or related to student development or student success.
Develop, teach, implement, and evaluate individual counseling and psychotherapy to students to maximize their potential to benefit from the college environment and to experience academic success.
Design, teach, implement, and evaluate group interventions, including counseling, psychotherapy, and support, to help students establish satisfying personal relationships and become effective in interpersonal processes.
Design, implement, facilitate, and evaluate intake interventions to teach and counsel students in assessing and overcoming specific deficiencies impacting their academic and interpersonal success. This includes researching and understanding available psychometric tests and other assessment techniques, followed by knowing how to administer such psychometric instruments and teaching students how to interpret and use results from there to promote their self-understanding and decision-making.
Develop, perform, and evaluate crisis counseling and drop-in services designed to build students' capacity to become successful life-long learners.
Perform necessary charting and data collection/recording requirements in documenting the assessment of students' well-being, acting in accordance with professional practice, APA code of ethics, state of Hawaii laws, and administrative rules governing the practice of psychology.
Conduct coaching and consultative services, including the provision of training and instruction for faculty, staff, and others to help foster a campus environment that supports and promotes the development of emotionally and mentally healthy students.
Partner in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a marketing plan for mental health counseling programs and services by researching literature and best practices to encourage service outreach in promoting use and satisfaction. Strategies may include, but are not limited to, on-line and print media, classroom presentations, outreach to students and student groups, orientation programs, informational resource fairs, etc.
Work in cooperation with faculty, staff, and others in academic departments, University offices, and the community to maintain currency, continuously improve, and assure responsiveness of mental health counseling programs and services that respond to, and/or accommodate changing student demographics and attendant needs. This includes making appropriate referrals off-campus and soliciting expertise from sources external to campus.
Assist with general administration and managing of facilities, services, and operations related to mental health counseling programs and services.
Assist with the oversight of delegated accounts, including the facilitation and preparation of fiscal documents required for expenditure and revenue collection according to university policies and procedures.
Partner with others in the development, interpretation, implementation, and revision, as needed, of appropriate policies, procedures, and operating manuals governing mental health counseling services, programs, and facilities, working closely with others to review and evaluate such policies and procedures.
Participate via institutional and/or personal membership in various national professional associations appropriate to the position (e.g. American Counseling Association, American College Counseling Association, American Psychological Association, American College Personnel Administration, National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, etc.).
Serve and provide leadership on university-wide committees, planning efforts, and programs appropriate to the position.
Provide management skills and knowledge to include serving in the absence of a supervisor.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
