Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:
The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) invites applications for the position of the founding Program Director of its Doctor of Physical Therapy program. The Program Director will play a central role in the design and implementation of this new program. This position is a full-time, tenure-track administrative role with teaching, scholarship, and service responsibilities. The successful candidate will be hired as an associate or full professor and will be evaluated for tenure. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Position responsibilities include:
  • Oversight of the Physical Therapy Program, including DPT Program development for CAPTE candidacy, assessment, planning, fiscal management, faculty hiring and evaluations, and curriculum.
  • Strong leadership and direction in the planning, development, and delivery of the DPT Program.
  • Positive mentorship of faculty within the Program.
  • Accountability for CAPTE accreditation assessment and compliance.
  • Active contributions to the curriculum and scholarship of the program and school, including fulfillment of a scholarly agenda.
  • Active participation on the school's administrative leadership team.
  • Actively engage local and regional stakeholders to grow professional connections within our community.
  • Participation in and support of professional and community-based service.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • An earned academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DSc) or a CAPTE exemption.
  • A minimum of six years employment in higher education with three years as a core faculty member in an accredited DPT program.
  • Licensed as a Physical Therapist in NC, or eligible for licensure in NC.
  • Eligible for the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
  • Demonstrated record of teaching and achievement in scholarly activities.
