Job Description:

Summary/Objective:

The National Immigrant Women’s Advocacy Project (NIWAP) team provides training and technical assistance to lawyers, judges, victim advocates, law enforcement, prosecutors, forensic nurses, state government staff and other professionals on legal rights and services available to immigrant victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child/elder abuse, stalking, and human trafficking. This one-year position is fully supported by funding already received from federal grants and donations. The position may be extended beyond one year depending on funding and performance.

Planning and Coordination or Training and Technical Assistance

Performs administrative duties to include coordinating the NIWAP timely response for information received by phone or email this includes coordinating Dean’s Fellow/intern handling intake; forwarding requests to the appropriate staff member; and ensuring that NIWAP’s fulfillment of requests is properly recorded. Supporting NIWAP’s community of practice monthly or bi-monthly meetings for family lawyers, victim advocates and roundtables for law enforcement and prosecutors. Keep the NIWAP calendar of events and meetings and Airtable tracking of trainings, roundtables and communities of practice up to date including tracking interns assigned, pre and post training work, and timely billing for reimbursed NIWAP travel, honoraria and payment of faculty time and travel costs. Makes travel arrangements, orders supplies, schedules and coordinates logistics and registration for conferences, meetings and events. Scheduling and coordinating the work of interns and volunteers. Responsible for maintaining NIWAP’s electronic and hardcopy filing systems for financials, trainings, and grant reporting.

Organizing Information, Evaluation, Outreach and Web Library

Enter data into Airtable databases, and run reports for grant reporting, budgeting and other program purposes. Develop and manage information collected including trainee’s registration and technical assistance callers contact information, evaluation surveys and tracking NIWAP’s public speaking, policy advocacy work, and publications. Coordinate NIWAP student work to maintain and improve NIWAP web library organization, accessibility of materials, fix broken links, and run reports on website analytics. Assist NIWAP staff in tracking version control for all web-library content in original editable word and pdf. Create, manage, and distribute NIWAP’s newsletter.

Enter data into databases in Airtable and run reports for grant reporting, budgeting and other program purposes using Google Analytics, Airtable, and Excel. Develop and manage information collected in Survey Monkey trainee’s registration and technical assistance callers contact information, and tracking NIWAP’s public speaking, policy advocacy work, and publications distribution.

Financials and Accounting

Provide general project accounting, including accounts payable and accounts receivable. Prepare monthly financial project reports on all expenditures by grant for review and approval by Director. Under the direction of the Director, this position monitors budget reports and works closely with Washington College of Law Financial Department on financial matters and with American University’s OSARA on grant reporting and prepare quarterly and semi-annual technical reports for sponsors of NIWAP’s grant funded work.

Other Duties

Assist NIWAP’s Director and NIWAP staff on grant, university, and other NIWAP projects. Complete other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working on issues involving immigrant survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and/or human trafficking.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.

  • 35 Hours/ per week

Salary Range:
  • $23.08/ per hour
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
  • At least one year of experience providing administrative support, preferably at not-for-profit organization or educational institution
  • Experience supervising and working with interns or volunteers
  • Expertise working in Excel
  • Experience with WordPress, Airtable, Campaigner, Survey Monkey, and running Zoom meetings and webinars.
