The University of South Carolina School of Music is accepting applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Music and Artificial Intelligence (AI). This 9-month, tenure-track position will begin on August 16, 2025.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain excellence in scholarly research and/or creative activity; develop courses in AI for the general undergraduate student population as well specialist AI courses in music; teach graduate and undergraduate courses in music theory; supervise graduate teaching assistants who teach undergraduate theory courses; supervise student research at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Other duties, including service, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:A doctorate in music theory, composition, or related music field. ABD will be considered. Candidates must demonstrate that their research and/or creative activity interests lie at the intersection of music and AI. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching music theory and aural skills at the university level.
