The School of Education and Human Development (SEHD) at Florida International University seeks applicants for a nine-month, open rank faculty position in educational neuroscience. The position is intended to support the advancement of interdisciplinary research in the science of learning from a neuroscientific perspective. We seek individuals with a doctorate in educational neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, developmental science, educational psychology or a related field. Expertise in neuroimaging, human developmental neuroscience, physiological, or neuropsychological research methods is preferred, as this individual will contribute to research, teaching, and mentorship in SEHD including teaching courses in educational neuroscience, neurological development, and neuropsychological research methods. The ideal candidate would have an active research program that synergizes with the mission of the FIU Center for Imaging Science, a multidisciplinary research unit focused on understanding neural mechanisms underlying brain development, adaptation and learning, and response to disease.
The CIS, which hosts a 3T Siemens Prisma MRI scanner, was created to build upon the rich portfolio of behavioral research programs at FIU and leverage advanced neuroimaging technologies, thereby expanding the scope of health-related research at FIU. Collaborative opportunities are available with FIU¿s Center for Children and Families, the Center for Research on U.S. Latino HIV/AIDs and Drug Abuse (CRUSADA), Research Center in Minority Institutions, the Brain, Behavior and the Environment Program, and the Institute of Environment.
We are especially interested in applicants who use MRI methods to address questions regarding human learning and cognition or social and affective neuroscience that are relevant to applied educational and developmental contexts.
