Summary
This Research Administration Associate (RAA) supports the central Sponsored Programs office and contributes to the pre-award and programmatic activities at the institutional level for all federal, state, and private foundation research grant awards. The RAA ensures compliance with all federal, sponsor, and institutional policies and guidelines and serves as a liaison between faculty, Baylor College of Medicine, and sponsors. The RAA also supports the college in a variety of other biomedical research initiatives.
This position is business transactional in nature in a high volume, deadline driven work environment. It requires good reading, writing, and organizational skills, the ability to analyze and problem solve, and a high degree of flexibility in being able to respond to a fast paced work environment.
Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay.
Job Duties
- Reviews, submits, and tracks budget and administrative sections of grant applications and progress reports using internal and external sites and databases.
- Reviews, negotiates, tracks and follows the execution of a variety of research agreements, such as grant and subaward agreements.
- Processes research awards and prepares accounting information for the post-award central team.
- Attends weekly office meetings and monthly/quarterly workshops.
- Monitors office email and ensure communications are responded to in a timely manner.
- Maintains special tracking systems and follow detailed checklists to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
- Two years of relevant experience.
- Experience with research administration work in an academic research setting
- Experience with contract management and negotiation
