Job Summary

Job Summary
The Clinical Trials Office at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Clinical Study Assistant. Working under the direction of a senior research coordinator or manager, the Clinical Study Assistant supports administrative operations and coordination of human subjects research studies.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  1. Maintains supply inventory, including ordering supplemental test articles and returning unused test articles to sponsor.
  2. Assists in preparation and maintenance of regulatory documents and IRB submissions.
  3. Determines visit windows from protocol, schedules subject visits, and sends visit reminders. Enters information into database.
  4. Organizes and prepares study-related equipment and supplies.
  5. Schedules and coordinates pre-study and monitor site visits.
  6. Attends and participates in Investigator and staff meetings. Assists team with specific study assignments and timelines.
  7. May obtain informed consent, medical history, and demographic information
  8. Assists in reporting and tracking adverse events (AE). Reports serious AEs to IRB and sponsor.
  9. Processes and ships lab samples according to protocol directions.

Problem SolvingThe incumbent may be required to prioritize tasks received from multiple staff members and determine the order of importance. The incumbent must use discretion and judgement when scheduling appointments and in screening calls. The incumbent may coordinate work processes with other departments, community, governmental or regulatory agencies and must understand the objectives and policies governing the activities of the department and be able to effectively communicate this information to interested parties. Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Completion of HIPAA Privacy & Security training may be required within two to five days of hire. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
