Position Description
Job Purpose
The primary purpose of the position is to support the Spelman College, Department of Economics entrepreneurship program. A successful applicant will assist the department in implementing and maintaining programs; serve as a lead instructor for courses related to entrepreneurship develop co-curricular activities that facilitate students’ development and training; and represent the Department of Economics and Spelman College Entrepreneurship efforts by interacting with the Center for Black Entrepreneurship, Spelpreneur; and work closely with the CBE Academic Director and Program Coordinator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and teach courses that will support a developing entrepreneurship minor.
Collaborate with the Economics Chair, faculty, and the Center for Black Entrepreneurship Academic Director to develop curriculum and co-curricular activities for the proposed entrepreneurship program.
Assist the Economics Department with developing the Entrepreneurship minor to compliment the Management and Organization minor at Spelman College
Serve on interdepartmental team to facilitate the integration of the Entrepreneurship minor across campus and with other minors.
Work closely with Spelman College Economics Chair and CBE Academic Director to ensure consistency in messaging to prospective students across web/online, email, social media and print formats.
Teach at least four 4-credit courses per academic year. All courses will be taught in-person.
Qualifications
Minimum of a MBA with at least 3 years of work experience in entrepreneurship or Ph.D. in Economics or business with focus on entrepreneurship.
Knowledge, agreement, and adherence to the mission, vision, and core values of Spelman College
Self-motivated, results-oriented, independent worker with the leadership skills necessary to engage and lead campus teams, corporate partnership and sponsorship teams
Demonstrated leadership ability, including vision casting and strategic implementation
Ability to recognize and develop future talent
Ability to work with multiple units and teams
Strong communication skills, both written and oral, at all levels
Ability to administrate and prioritize varied workloads, executing appropriate judgment and confidentiality
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead within a team environment
