Job Description:
Summary:
Reporting to the Program Director, the Associate Director of Industry Outreach, Professional Development, and Alumni Engagement (Biotechnology Master's Program) plays an essential role in providing practical and meaningful opportunities for Biotechnology Master's students to develop and attain professional success. These opportunities include on- and off-site programming and the development and maintenance of relationships with potential employers, alumni, and other leaders in the Biotech/Biopharma/Life Science/etc. industry. The Associate Director of Industry Outreach, Professional Development, and Alumni Engagement is tasked with developing student and alumni co-op and job opportunities, through building strong partnerships, as well as expanding upon meaningful networks of alumni and employers to further this goal. The Associate Director also serves as the instructor of BIOL 2180, the co-op course, in which students reflect on their experience and share the evaluations from industry supervisors.
As part of its curriculum, the Biotechnology Master's Program offers students the opportunity to participate in a 6 month-long, full-time, paid internship at biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, device, and consulting companies. This immersive experience helps students explore different career paths and develop marketable skills and knowledge to take on competitive jobs post-graduation. Over the years, the program has placed students at over 25 industry partners and has forged close partnerships with both big pharma, small biotechnology, and consulting companies such as Pfizer, Amgen, Moderna, Arthur D Little, and Tessera. The program is looking to grow and deepen its partnerships with current and new companies.
Job Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Required: Master's Degree in a Biology related
discipline
- Required: 5-7 years of experience in the
biotechnology/biopharmaceutical or relevant industry
- Required: In-depth knowledge and experience about
biotechnology/biopharmaceutical/device industry career
opportunities at the local, state, and national level
- And/or equivalent combination of education and
experience
- PhD and 5 years of experience in a relevant industry is highly
desired
- Required: In-depth knowledge and experience about
biotech/biopharma/device industry career opportunities at the
local, state, and national level
- Experience building and maintaining relationships between
organizations is a plus
- Experience with higher education administration is a
plus

- Travel to conferences and institutions up to 4 times per
year.
