Job Details

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro Department of Interior Architecture seeks to fill the position of Assistant Professor.  The Department of Interior Architecture is a community of scholars active in design theory and practice who embrace a wide variety of disciplines that inform the design of the built environment, including interior design, architecture, product design, social sciences, historic preservation, the arts and humanities.

 

With nine full-time faculty and an enrollment of 170 undergraduates the department offers a CIDA-accredited first professional (BFA) in Interior Architecture and a post-baccalaureate certificate and minor in Historic Preservation. The Department also houses the University’s Center for Community-Engaged Design and the Main Street Fellows Program. Faculty are energetically engaged in a range of teaching and research/ creative scholarship activities that reflect our program’s core values: authenticity, community, innovation, and stewardship.

Responsibilities:

  • teach undergraduate studios and support courses in history and theory of design each semester
  • continue an active program of peer-reviewed scholarship or creative activity
  • engage in an ongoing dialogue about the program and design practice
  • advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students
  • provide service to the department, college, university, and community

 

Qualifications:

  • expertise in design history and theory, previous experience teaching design studio at any level.
  • terminal degree in Interior Design/Interior Architecture/Architecture (MFA, MArch, PhD) or related field
  • professional credentials related to the candidate’s expertise
  • teaching experience, practical experience and/or digital design competency

 

Appointment:

  • salary commensurate with experience. 
  • appointment begins August 1, 2025
