MULTI-YEAR VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN MATHEMATICS
Willamette University invites applications for a non-tenure-track full-time position in Mathematics at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2025-26 academic year, beginning in August 2025. This position is renewable for up to three years pending good performance reviews. We seek candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching and research at a primarily undergraduate institution. As part of our drive towards inclusive excellence in the classroom, the department seeks to create a supportive community for all students. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to and success in higher education.
Job Description:
Teach 6 courses per year, and participate in departmental and college faculty life. Primary duties include teaching sections at the introductory level, with opportunities to teach more advanced classes after the first year. The position also allows optional opportunities to work with undergraduates on mentored research or involve them in the candidate's research program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A terminal degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a math adjacent field. ABD with teaching experience considered.
- Must be able to reside in or primarily work in Oregon by the first day of employment. This is an in-person teaching position.

- Curriculum vitae;
- A description (for non-specialists) of research plans and accomplishments;
- A statement of teaching philosophy, including an explanation of how you guide students toward specific learning objectives;
- A brief statement (500 words or less) describing ways you can contribute to the university's mission of promoting an equitable, diverse, and inclusive campus;
- Unofficial copy of graduate transcripts.
