The Department of Leadership, Policy, and Lifelong (LPLL) Learning in the College of Education at the University of South Florida (USF) provides advanced graduate study at the master's, educational specialist, and doctoral levels to prepare professionals who demonstrate transformative, critical leadership in scholarship, research, service, and professional development. It aims to prepare graduates who can promote global awareness, diversity, equity, and well-being in various education organizations and agencies.
Counselor Education Program:
The department aims to develop a culturally diverse faculty focused on teaching and working with students from a variety of multicultural backgrounds and experiences. The Counselor Education Program on the Tampa campus offers an M.A. in Counselor Education with a concentration in School Counseling and a PhD program with a concentration in Counselor Education. The master’s degree program is CACREP-accredited, and the PhD program is CACREP-aligned, with a CACREP application underway. Both programs combine a sound theoretical and research base with integrated and challenging applications to problems of practice.
Position Description
This is a full-time, nine-month tenure track position with summer teaching available. The position requires instruction in the foundational MA courses and PhD courses, with the expectation that the faculty member will also engage in scholarly activity and service to the program, university, and profession.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and student mentoring; significant experience teaching graduate courses and developing courses and educational/co-curricular programs; contribute to the program’s ongoing accreditation responsibilities; articulate a clear research agenda and record of publications and potential for continued publication in salient professional journals in the field; evidence of success in writing, securing, and/or participating in competitive externally funded grants to support the research agenda. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong cultural awareness, verbal communication and interpersonal skills necessary for effective collaboration with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and external constituents.
Required Qualifications:
A doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D.) in Counselor Education
Evidence of teaching and supervision in core graduate counseling courses
Evidence of a research agenda and publication record commensurate with the rank requested
Participation in regional, national, and/or international professional associations
A professional orientation that champions social justice and diversity in counseling
Ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines and with community organizations
Preferred Qualifications:
Currently licensed and/ or eligible to obtain licensure in Florida
Experience in clinical supervision at a counseling agency and preparedness to develop clinical internship opportunities for doctoral students,
Experience with the CACREP accreditation process
Evidence of grant writing experience
Evidence of publications in professional journals in the field
Ability to develop, teach, and assess student performance in online and in-person class formats
Evidence of leadership roles in regional, national and/or international professional associations
Experience teaching and mentoring doctoral students and service on doctoral dissertation committees

Salary is competitive and commensurate with background and experience.
