Brief Description of DI:
The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) was founded in Qatar in 2015 as a Doha-based independent institution of higher education. The Institute offers MA and PhD programs in two schools: the School of Social Sciences and Humanities and the School of Economics, Administration and Public Policy. The Institute adopts a student-centred approach to learning, promotes interdisciplinary research, and uses Arabic as the primary language of instruction, with fluency in English a requirement. DI aims to graduate researchers and practitioners who can advance knowledge and better the human condition, while upholding the highest scientific, professional, and ethical standards. It provides advanced leadership-focused training that emphasizes the competencies necessary to satisfy the region’s needs in sustainable development and intellectual advancement. Brief Description of Program:
The Clinical Psychology Program aims to train and equip students with a range of theoretical, research and practical clinical skills necessary to pursue a professional and/or research career in clinical psychology. A strong emphasis is placed on the acquisition of both research and applied skills relevant to the practice of clinical psychology, based on the scientist-practitioner model. The program also seeks to contribute significantly to Arab scholarly research in the field of clinical psychology, and to prepare graduate students for the unique challenges associated with today's increasingly global, diverse, and changing societies.
Job Summary:
The Program of Clinical Psychology is seeking applications for visiting open rank PsyD/PhD Clinical Psychology faculty positions. The program is particularly interested in individuals with expertise in psychological assessment. The ideal candidates will be capable of teaching courses on psychological psychometric assessment tools (personality and cognitive) and clinical interviewing, biopsychosocial assessment and formulation, and intervention planning. The appointment is scheduled for one academic year, commencing Fall of 2025/26.
The successful applicants should be able to teach a minimum of three core areas (clinical assessment, psychopathology, and evidence-based clinical intervention), as well as more specialized courses in their area of focus.
Main Responsibilities:
- Teach a minimum of two courses in the program.
- Deliver lectures at the program’s seminars.
- Participate in the program’s academic activities.
- Supervise Master’s and Doctoral theses and/or Capstone projects in the program.
- Supervise students' practical training.
- Conduct research in specialized and related fields.
Qualification, Experiences and Skills:
Applicants must:
- Hold a doctorate degree in the field of Clinical Psychology
- Demonstrate a track record of scientific research and publications in their field of specialization and related areas in international peer-reviewed journals that align with their academic rank.
- Have the necessary competence to conduct individual and group research and to offer practical interventions in diverse communities.
- Possess competence and experience in teaching and supervising at the graduate level.
- Exhibit proficiency in the Arabic language.
- Experienced in professional practice, preferably with experience working in the Arab region.
- Possess significant internship and practice experience in the field.
- Be licensed to practice clinical psychology in their home country or the country where they received their education or professional training.
- Preference will be given to those who have a good command of the Arabic language and/or a strong interest in research and practice in the Arab region.
