About the Role

The School of Pharmacy invites applications for our Sr. Research Contracts & Grants Administrator (post-award) role. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, this position will provide essential assistance to faculty, staff and administrators in securing and administering grants and contracts. The Sr. Research Contracts and Grants Administrator works closely with Principal Investigators (PI), study staff, unit administrators, and coordinate with VCU Central Grants and Contracts office in post award stages of project management; as well as providing research program level reporting and analytics to VCU School of Pharmacy Leadership.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide expert post-award grant support for faculty and research projects.
  • Approve transactions charged to sponsored account: verify that expenses adhere to applicable policies.
  • Meet monthly with Principal Investigator(s) to review expenditures and ensure alignment
    with grant budgets.
  • Facilitate rebudgeting requests and obtain both internal and sponsored approvals
  • Monitor compliance with university, state, and federal policies and regulations.
  • Reconcile financial activity related to grants and assist with audits as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for faculty and staff on grant-related questions.
  • Responsible for post-award duties such as reviewing proposals, preparing, negotiating, executing, and managing research agreements, contract amendments, and confidentiality agreements
Qualifications

Required qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience within a higher education setting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and email/calendar systems.
  • One to three years experience in fiscal management and grants administration.
  • Ability to analyze budgetary line items for compliance with budget guidelines; knowledge of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, federal and university regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and information research skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply guidelines to individual situations.
  • Effective written and verbal communication; ability to prepare research reports and proposals; and ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and function effectively as part of a team.

Preferred qualifications
  • Three to five years minimum relevant experience in grant administration
  • Health Science grants experience in an academic setting
  • VCU Sponsored Projects Administration Certification
  • Certified Research Administrator (CRA)
